BLOG UPDATE: Home Prices May Be At The Bottom

Should I list my home during the holidays

As we approach the holiday season, you may be wondering, Should we list our home now or wait until after the holidays?  My answer is, if you want to sell now, why wait?

I have created a list of reasons for you to consider listing now, rather than waiting until the new year. Here you go:

1) While there may be fewer buyers during the holiday season, the people that are looking are serious. This is not a time for lookey lous. If they don't need to buy a home now, they will wait until after the holidays, or Spring.

2) There are fewer homes for sale this time of year and so you will have less competetion as a seller.

3) After January 1st, the supply of listings increases substantially, which will reduce the demand for your home.

4) Your home shows better when it is decorated for the holidays, so long as you don't get too carried away.

5) Buyers typically have more time to look at properties during this time AND many times partners can both go out together.

6) You can sell now, and then move out in January or February. Lost in other listings at the beginning of the year, it could take a little longer to sell if you wait.

7) Relocation buyers are still looking. Companies are not concerned about the holidays and relos want to move and settle before school starts in January.

8) Virtual tours always look so nice this time of year.

9) We can schedule showing times for your home, around your schedule, during this holiday season.

So, my opinion is to list when you are ready to sell and do not let the holidays affect your decision. Call me at any time to talk more about selling or buying a home during the holidays.
